The listing, Gold Color Greek 1976 Drachma National Hero & 1821 Corvette has ended.
This hefty gold-color coin in bright and excellent condition (and I didn't even wipe it with my sleeve) is a Greek Greece 1976 1 DRACHMA COIN, catalog KM#116, featuring Greek National Hero Konstantinos Kanaris on one side, and a two-masted "Corvette" sailing ship on the other.
Konstantinos (Constantine) Kanaris (1793 - 1877) came from the island of Psara. He blew up the Turkish armada at Chios and Tenedos and other Turkish ships at Mytilene and Samos (1824). He was said to have encouraged himself by murmuring "Konstantí, you are going to die" every time he was approaching a Turkish warship on the fire boat he was about to detonate.
Whoa ...
Anyway, please check out my other Greek coins. Next, I'm moving onto some very old Hong Kong coins, so check back often!
