Yes they are stretchy,like leg warmers with soles is how I would describe them. You could wear them under jeans I think if you wore boot cut I think. I always see them over jeans like you would wear leg warmers. Hope that helps? Lol. I try to explain but I don't think I'm very good at it. :)

@sheri- I think it might look like like laces because of the design of the material they are laying on? There is black circles on the fabric.

@ Sheri. I'm hoping I answer this correctly based on your question. The material is the same throughout, it rather feels like wearing slippers but they are for indoor/outdoor. The bottom rim ( brown suede strip ) is where I think the support comes from but the top of the foot is not stiff. I personally love Muk Luks bc they are so comfy, I just don't need as many pairs as I have.
