The listing, Vintage Japan Black Enamel Trinket Box Japanese Coin Dollar Yen has ended.
If you like unique items, this is the one for you! I think the Black enamel container is a trinket box, and it is smaller on the inside, (I tried diligently to capture a pic of the inside but could not provide one that was visible). It slides up and down the string and so does the lid. The lid does not have any hinging. It is authentic to the piece. There is a gold colored stamp, (fading), on the front and was told to me by my Korean friend it meant wealth/prosperity; I was unable to find, (via researching), and conclude it is just my friends opinion, not fact, as to it's meaning. I was able to confirm the Yen though! It is 65% copper, 35% zinc; a bit larger than our US nickel, (approx 22mm). The obverse side is a Rice Plant out of Water. The gear around the hole represents Industry. The reverse side is "Old Script". It is the only Japanese coin in circulation to lack Arabic numerals on either face. It was minted between 1949-1958. I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL COIN GRADER. The string it is on is original and should be treated gently, as this piece is over half a century old!
