This recipe is rumored to have come from Mrs. Fields (the chocolate chip cookie guru of Palo Alto, CA). The story is that some years ago, a couple of guys wrote to Mrs. Fields and asked her for her recipe. She actually sent it to them, along with a bill for $500.00. They were forced through the courts to pay. To exact their revenge they have posted it all over the internet! This was more than 20 years ago that it was passed to me. I can tell you that they taste just like her cookies! Wonderful, and delightfully fresh; with the perfect combination of soft and chewy. If you prefer your cookies crunchy, you can just leave them in the oven a little bit longer! This recipe comes to you complete, with another that has it converted to a mix; that enables you to store it for up to six months in a cool, dark place; and then whip up a batch whenever you've a mind to without a lot of measuring of stuff! Also, you can make the mix when you have chocolate chips ....which is especially useful if you have a spouse or kids that get into them before you can use them to make cookies! They are already in the cookie mix; so not much fun to get into and pick out!!! Whether you use the regular recipe or the mix...they are incredibly good, you'll be asked for the recipe, again and again! Either the cookies or the mix, make a beautiful gift as well!
