My brother used this for 3 days before getting an iPhone and no longer needed it, so it has some slight scratches, not noticable when screen is turned on.

You plug in the usb and it's pretty self explanatory. It isn't like itunes so you don't have to buy music and it support multiple audio music formats such as MP3.WMA.WAV.etc. You can use it on multiple computers too. Pictures are put on the same way. The MP3 MP4 player can also be used as a USB drive.

how bad are the scratches? is it giftable?

A#1: Very light, it was hard to capture in the picture. More like tiny dust particles in the screen, so tiny. Can't even see when the screen is turned on.

A#2: I wouldn't put it on Listia if I thought it wasn't giftable. To me anything I put on Listia is a gift and I wouldn't put anything on here I wouldn't want myself.

just to help the software that i used to convert the videos for the ipods and mp3 players is the real player sp. u can google it and find it very easy and u can use that software to import, convert, and transfer the files for the devices...

you need to convert movies into the proper format "AMV" in order to play...you will need a video converter program in order to do this. There are a couple of freeware programs that work, the disk that comes with the mp3 should also have a program to do this.
