It is not a Crazy Auction it says I'm sure that the camera will work but I only have the regular AA and there is some room for a bigger battery. It takes a AA large battery. LRG Listia Assurance

My guess is there could be a bit of corrosion on the battery contacts so if you clean it off it should work with any fresh AA batteries. For some reason the batteries have to be fresh and full voltage to power it up. I have a cannon that uses 4 AA's and if I leave the batteries in it even when it's turned off it drains them and will not turn on the next time I go to use it. That seems to be a common problem with all these digital cameras . Fresh batteries and clean contacts and you should be good to go.
