Well, the garment isn't made to wear with or without the chains, but it would be very easy to remove them and replace with a full fabric tie. I hope this helps

After reading what I just wrote, it sounded a little confusing. What I meant to say was that while the chain is built as part of the tie, it could be easily removed and a new tie put in its place.
