It does light up...it makes the marker very bright. The screen gets lit up a bit but not extremely bright. I would write on it, but it's new. Maybe a you tube video or their site. If you can't find anything let me know and I'll look for a link to send you. Requires 4 AAA batteries. I'll post a picture of the print on the box. Thank you for looking :)
