I didn't know what this was when I found it - then I saw some listed on here for over 400,000 credits- wow was I shocked! So here is this thingy I found in grandmas trunk-sorry I do not know anything about it? Grandma has passed away and nobody to ask to get any type of history on this piece
Questions & Comments
Very interesting item to be sure! But I get that whole creepy thing! Did y'all ever see "Trilogy Of Terror"? It does remind me of that African wood doll that terrorized Karen Black with knives under the door when it's rope or hair or something fell off. And this one appears to have no hair!!! Ooohhh!!! Lol!!! Great conversation piece, or collectors item to be sure! Even for just the thrill of scaring people with it! Thanks for offering!
Dont be rude people, she is giving you what info she has. Watching, out of fanns. Thanks for sharing this with us. People you have a computer, look it up
Maybe so-lol...I do know i was terrified of it when I was little. It was on bookcase in the hall and I would run by it as fast as I could.. 40 years later I still don't like it!!!
So let me understand.. you call this a "Thingy".. but you Assume its handcarved.. also you say youve seen another here sell for 400k credits.. they MUST have listed alot more info if they got those kind of credits.. couldnt you have atleast gotten some info from the ones you have seen?.. I see your not New to this p[lace so you should know that u need ALOT more info to get any desent amount of credits.. I reallly like this but I will not bid if I cant get atleast , an approx. date.. century, Circa... and a location.. is it Americana, african, central america... please try to find out a lil more info and im sure your bids will sky rocket.
As I stated it was my grandmas and she has passed away and so has my mother so there is nobody to ask !??? I can tell its HANDCARVED and I know it's pretty old. I remember it as a child - I always thought it was creepy so I have all the info I have. The ones I saw on here were from Africa and fertility statues she had 2 of them that's why I started bids at 499- if u are unsure then please do not bid. This is all the info I have thanks
I think it is a very cool thingy , lol . Some people can be so rude , just ignore that one that was being rude ! I like it and think it will go for a high bid .
Here's what I have found: These are Handmade in Indonesia of Teak wood and are sold all over as souvenirs ; not rare by any means. You can buy them in any beach area like Hawaii, California, Virginia, Florida etc. This one is missing it's hair. How long have they been making them and how old is yours I do not know.. They have the name of the beach area where they are sold written on but it can easily be wiped off
I think your "thingy" is pretty cool looking and I can't stop looking at it lol,..thank you for listing and I hope you get alot of points for it! If I had all my points and auctions over with I would sure bid on it but I'll just be watching,..Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! :-)
I think my grandson would love this thingy. Hey works for me. Its a thingy what more can she say people . Fanned and watching . Sorry for your losses dear. I lost my mother and grand mother too sure miss them. Hard to get info.when they are no longer with us. I understand.Good luck
oh my gosh!! Its hair DID fall off!!!! Yikes!! I love stuff like this..ok let me tell you I have a wood carving of a man with the hair but no skirt on a motorcycle the lady is in the sidecar next to him. They both have hair but no skirt....it is creepy looking...I also was told that it may worth alot as well but my husband died almost 2 years ago so I have it in a box....will try to find where I put it and see If I can find anything out about it....wanted to tell you though this looks like an Hawaiian piece....fanned and bidding...that doll of mine that you are bidding on she is about 80+ years.
Neat! I have a set of 3, one surfer, guitar player & picture frame, all three have hair an skirts. Then I have a older one a lot heavier carved wood. They are neat! Good Luck!! Watching!!
The amount of unappreciative Ignorance Just Because she's unsure of all of the information is hysterical. noone has asked you to fan, watch or bid. I think your doing incredible with the info that you have. F & W
