(Why do I need this item? This is an ideal tool for estimating sizes and weights of round and fancy shaped diamonds.
This useful pocket instrument consists of 6 (1mm thick) aluminium discs, of about 35mm diameter, hinged together by a metal rivet to function as a fan - the selected disc being easily rotated to view.
Each of the four perforated discs contain precision holes marked with carat weight and covering a range of shapes (round, marquise, and baguette) in sizes from .1ct to 2.1ct.
Simply place the gauge over a stone to find the matching size and identify avge carat weight for that diameter.
It says: 0.01-2.1ct. No mm written.
