Also known as Jamaican sorrel,, Rozelle, or Red Zinger Hibiscus. This plant produces,so easily as shown in the picture, they are similar to a hibiscus plant, but look closer in resemblance to the okra plant. Flowers only last a short time, however they continue to bloom throughout the whole spring/ winter season. Flower calyxes make a jicama nice tea, or culinary flower for use in salad, or other recipes. Can also be used to make a nice wine. Has many more uses from dying fabrics to uses in all kinds of recipes. Is very nutritious and good for you too. Pods produce plenty of seeds, and seeds are extremely viable, easy to grow and transplant. Start seeds indoors now for earlier spring blooms.
