Only need 50 credits for gin and in 3 hours you have digital ending that I can get you close (the gin use fee doesn't happen till used)

Once you have 50 you should be able to "update auction" and see the place to enter gin (just under place to enter start bid). If you update and bring your start bid down to 499 you should get credits back to - as anything over 499 start bid has fees

k, even after lowering starting bid the option to add a GIN still was allowed, so it didn't give me the credits back I had originally used to higher the bidding start cost.

They don't get refunded until you press update listing and the start bid actually changes to new start bid (499 or less for no fees)
