Description

The listing, Bismuth!!From West Germany!! has ended.

This auction is for one good sized piece of Bismuth , lab made crystals for the collector or budding scientist, or just about anyone who like beautiful things! The crystal formation on this piece is quite amazing! Like little stairs in an M.C.Escher print! It varies from dark blues to metallic purple to and almost pink! It is considered to have the highest mass of any element that is stable! It's Chemical Element smybol is Bi , and it's atomic number is 83. The free element is 86% as dense as lead! It was discovered in 1753 by Claude Francois Geoffrey, although it has been used since ancient times. It was thought to be a form of tin or lead.(It is actually used now to replace lead in many things) It has a low toxicity for a heavy metal and compounds made from it are found in cosmetics and Pepto Bismal!! It decays with the half life of more than I BILLION times the AGE OF THE UNIVERSE!!Imagine that!! (I wish I was decaying at the same rate!! Lol!! ) It is quite a fascinating element!! You can read more about it on Wiki !! And you'll probably hear more about it as it's being used as a replacement for many things, especially in plumbing , where lead can no longer be used, bismuth is a much safer option.
Shipping can be paid by Postal Money order or Concealed cash(in a card or wrapped in paper in an envelope) . I'm not the speediest at shipping! I;m in a small town with a small PO , only one person works there, and sometimes there are lines! I only go 2 times a week, so sometimes if I'm mailing a bunch of things , I don't have time to send it all, but yours will come in the order in which I receive it!! Please be patient! You will get it! If this is for a Xmas present it is getting close , time-wise!! If you want faster service, overnite or 2Nd day is possible but you'll have to prepay the difference. Most likely you'll get it in time for Xmas , but I cannot guarantee it! TY for looking and check out all of my auctions!! TY!!!Fan me , too!PLZ!!

I was born in Crailsheim, mom and daddy got my brother and me in Bamberg. I was also in Dresden for a short time with my biological mother, as that is apparently where she is from. Of course after our adoption, we were located on 2 military bases in daddy's 4 year tour there. It wasn't until I was mature that I started having an interest in my homeland, as before that, I guess I would cry for days and had to be hospitalized whenever my folks would talk of my biological, so.... When I was in my later 30's, I thought I'd see if I could find my bio-parents and any siblings, but $8000.00 later, only came out with the same info I started with, so I laid it to rest, started researching everything I could about the country, what my biological mother had to live thru, then decided to let sleeping dogs lie in that area, and dove into the beauty Germany has tucked away in the mountains and the amazing castles! I'd love to go stay at any one of them now that many of them have turned into B&B's, and for some reason, when I look at this piece you are offering, all my minds' eye sees is the castles, the colors of the hills they rest within, and I am compelled to own this! Amazing what things drive us! What are the dimensions of this piece?

Wow! Quite an amazing story! How did you end up here? I forgot! I've been to Dresden! At least to the museum!! Wonderful art collection there! I didn't see much of the city, but what I could see looked nice! We just took a day trip there. But about your parents, it's good you've come to peace with it, but if you have enough info, one thing I do is find lost families(lol!) I do it mostly for Native Americans, and I haven't done a lot with Europe, but I did find on man's family in France(he was a mixture of French Royalty , we discovered a town was named for his family , and I did find some of his Native American Ancestors , too. If you'd like I can try , no promises, no charge. I just do it to help people(I started with looking for 2 adopted girls. It's a thousand times easier now with all the info on the internet. If you'd like me to try , just message me (I need the names , birthdates or any info you have of them. Miliitary records , date/place of marriage, anything.. I just found my own great Grandparents!! Lol!!My mother knew very little, only her parents names. It took a while, but I even have pics of the boat they came here on! In fact it was one from Germany!(though they were not German). Now, I know how they arrived(not through Ellis Island as everyone thought, but through another port, and I know what yr they lived where, all of the kids , names, their real name(many foreigners were given names. And even what it meant and why! With this info, my brother has located where my Great Grandfather is buried! (It's a cematary in the middle of a highway , now!! We haven't yet located where she is buried, but we'll find her soon, I am sure.)Happy Thanksgiving!!

Ty! Wow!! Yes, you should try to get there one day!! I've been to parts of West Germany , what area were you from? Do you know? I've been to Cologne, Kassel, Frankfurt, I'm an artist and there is a great deal of art to see! In Wurzburg is a beautiful Tiepolo Ceiling! Check it out! It's called "The Residenz " it was a home, now open to the public. And there are great wooden sculptures by Tilman Riemenschneider , you can see his work online, too! Also Grunewald , and Durer were great artists from Germany! The countryside is much like New England, and it does get bitter cold!!But the castles and old homes along the Rhine River are just fabulous! You can take a boat down the River, or the train. It's a bit gloomy sometimes , like England gets a fair amount of rain. There is a lot of outdoor life, big parks , lots of swimming in lakes, in summer (I mean BIG crowds!). The food is a bit weird! Lol!! They eat lots of parts of animals we don't! Haha!! But almost any city center has outdoor restaurants with Sausage and beer(Tons!) , Wiener scnitzel, and Black Forest Cake that is Fantastic!! (The desserts are outrageous! Lol!! I skipped dinner much of the time!!). They love French Fries(their own version! I love those!) But I can skip eating cooked jellyfish !Lol!! They are very scientific, meticulously clean!! The streets are perfect! you never see garbage out anywhere!! (Unlike NYC!!!Which is a mess on any given day!) And they drive like a bunch of raving maniacs on the highway, I'm guessing some go as fast as 180 MPH, and they have monsterous accidents , because of that(not sure why they don't put a stop to it!). Even in the cities, I nearly was killed, I had just come from Venice and I totally had forgotten about crossing roads!(You forget everything in Venice!! Lol!!)

Silly me! Yes, Daddy served 2 of his 4 year tour in Frankfurt! Then Bamberg, where the school taught me to speak American, so I became our family interpreter until my brother would learn American language.

Just saw your questions and that you search for lost families, mostly native. I'd be happy to allow you to give it a try, but have to try and recall which box I have her file folder in. One of my specialties is research! I've done work for more than I can count and remember, strangers, family, friends and acquaintances. I search what ever is asked of me! Wanted to be a PI, but takes a life time of education, being a cop/detective; it's quiet intense, and with 5 sons to raise and a full time job, it wasn't meant to be. I am 99% accurate; I am the only one I can't find info on! My mom, so I was told, was a prostitute cuz housekeeping barely put food on the table; apparently at one point, she married a GI, came to the states, busted n deported for prostitution and banned from reentering the USA. Erika Joswig is last name I have on her. I can't recall her full name. She was born in Feb. and if Memory serves!, she's around 80ish. I have all that info plus! even wrote the German Government! Any way. I'm panicking cuz I want this amazing piece of history you are offering, put my secret bid up as high as I could, now I wait n pray! It is 1:00a.m., I'm to put the turkey in at 6:00a.m.! I'm a talker! never used to be though! Have a great day 2mro! we'll talk soon.

Lol! Ok, I'll see what I can do! You never know! I can't promise anything but most cases , I've found something. One was a Canadian and we found enough, he can do the rest. The other one I mentioned we found a lot on his French side, but only a few connections on the Native American side. Well, I guess you have a slight edge , you know something. But sometimes you can run into surprises, so I have a to warn you ,you just cannot predict . But only one way to find out! And yes, I love to do research, too! (I have a huge curiousity about everything and anything! Lol!! So easy to get lost on a tangent!!
