Description

The listing, ❀ organic french hollyhock ❀ has ended.

french hollyhock or zebra mallow, is a wonderful addition to any cottage or victorian style garden. a very pretty, old-fashioned flowering plant with lovely edible and medicinal dark green foliage. drought tolerant and an extra long blooming season- spring, summer, & fall- make this one of the best heirloom perennials!

seeds are hand harvested fresh from my garden, 2013. the flowers are abundant + about one inch wide, white / pale lavender with dark purple stripes. these grow to from 2 to 4 feet tall and will self-propagate, if left to grow freely, even in poor or dry soil. butterflies love them, they will be daily visitors to wherever you choose to plant these.

the lucky winner of this auction will receive 15+ homegrown hollyhock seeds plus 10 mystery bonus seeds from what i have at hand =) all listia rules apply, please and thanks. from my garden to yours, good luck!!

hi wendy- you do not need to start the poppies inside. i have heard of some people doing this, and i've tried it myself, to no avail. for spring planting you can either wait until snow completely clears and sprinkle seeds over tilled, dampened soil or you can spread evenly over the area of the garden where you want them on top of the snow. when snow melts the seeds will drop down into your plant bed + you'll get a bit of a head start on them reaching maturity. also because they are so tiny i suggest mixing them into a cup of dry sand so that when you put them out you'll have an easier time of seeing where they are being placed. thanks for the question!
