The listing, Antique 1939 Postage Stamp Dealer "Honor" Booklet From Australia has ended.
This is a small hand-made "Honor" booklet. by C. A. Brown Postage Stamp Dealer
PO Box 108, Haymarket, Sydney Australia. Circa 1939
Hinged to each of the 8 pages are cancelled postage stamps from around the world.
It reads: "PLEASE RETURN WITHIN 10 DAYS WITH MONEY FOR PURCHASE". I guess the idea was to keep the stamps you wanted and return the booklet with the money for the stamps that you wanted to keep. Now that's Trust!
It also reads: "The prices are above each stamp" & "Return book if empty". Unfortunately, this book isn't empty so I wonder if the person this book was entrusted to made off with the stamps?
I prefer to think that C. A. Brown''s trust in humankind was not misplaced and that the person who kept this book did indeed pay him (or her) for all these stamps. Perhaps, they didn't get a chance to return the booklet because they had to go to war and didn't get the chance to do it. An honest mistake if you will. In any case I have them in my possession now and am offering them to you, the bidding public of Listia
There are only 2 stamps missing. I don't know what happened there.
Please check out all 9 pictures enlarged so you can see exactly what is on the cover and all the stamps.
Measures approx 3 1/2" x 5". 8 pages.
