Stunning genuine 7. 96 carat free form Opal doublet loose stone up for auction. When I originally purchased many years ago this stone was $19.99. It is a gorgeous piece in aqua blues with magnificent iridescence. Would make a wonderful focal point for a ring, pendant or bracelet or any other jewelry making project.

It is when they bond a solid opal to a backing, usually another type of stone like onyx. This allows for the brilliance and iridescence of the solid opal stone to be even more intense and beautiful. Most of all opals unless set into a setting that has no back, are usually either doublets or triplets
