Repousse 3D-Style Lincoln Penny Punch Pop-up Pressed One cent Coin

50th Birthday or Anniversary 1964 coin. It's a coin made from solid copper, not the modern zinc pennies, plated in copper.

This is a 3D coin -- a repousse-style punched pop-up coin, made from a genuine Lincoln penny 50 years ago during the Cold War. It's rare to find these style pennies; it is even more rare to find a penny 50 years old!

About this coin: This is a real coin!

“Repousse” is a metal-forming technique, which from a French translation, means pushing up. As you can see the coin is pushed up to form a 3D impression into the genuine coin.

It is now three pennies thick!

With this coin, a three-dimensional image of Abraham Lincoln is pressed into the coin, UP into the image of Lincolns engraving on the front of the coin. On the back side you can see Lincoln's image pushed in.

For pennies made after 1982 the whiteness of the coin's metal (the zinc), can be seen through the copper plating at the highest points. (Coins made before 1983 are all copper and the zinc metal cannot be seen on the highest points of the pushed up metal points.)

This coin pictured is pure copper!

They coin you will receive is not cleaned, and you can clean it up like a new copper penny when it arrives.

A rare, unique, collectable.
