This auction is for a 250gb SATA internal desktop hard drive.

Try the jumper set to slave. And then nuke it...

I'm not sure if it was locked prior to obtaining the server it came from or if I did it inadvertently when I was working on the server.

i was wondering if it was lock by the sever software and if so whether any software other then that used by the server could unlock it

As far as I know, The only software that will unlock it is the "the A FF HDD Unlock Wizard" software. The server failed so unlocking with the server isn't an option.

like it says in the description, as far as I know the only thing that will work is the hard drive unlock wizard.

I wont need that because I will be puting an os on the hdd and with windows 7 installs, they give you to format any hdd. I once had a locked hard drive and I just unlcoked it by formatting in the Windows installation

Have you tried to format it. This will strip the drive of anything on it, Then all that needs to be done is turn it on. And add the operating system for the computer that it is going to be used in!
