I hear you brother big time. Now is Tom Gillespie any relation to Bruce Gillespie. I know Bruce Gillespie is a huge knife maker also. If I'm right I think that's the guy that always has a red liner in his knives is that correct I'm not sure.

I knew a very famous knife maker up in Idaho. I don't know if you was world-famous but he was famous up there. He made me a dagger from 1942 Studebaker leaf-spring. The blade was about 14 inches long. The handle and sheath were handcarved from manzanita and was totally and intricately inlaid with thin brass sheeting with the perfect outline of my Harley and my name. It was the most beautiful knife I have ever seen. I can't even begin to explain how intricate all the other inlays he had done on the knife. But of course when you have something that nice someone else wants it to and that's what happened. Somebody ripped it off

I see that now. And like you said, it's way too hard to keep up with all the knife makers even the very famous ones.

Yeah and I don't know if Tom is even famous. I do know I like the knives his apprentice made. I have quite a few. Some of them are of course, one of a kind. That works for me, famous or not.

Did you read my comment about the different spellings of the names? Bruce Gillespie and Tom Gellespie
Dec 8th, 2013 at 11:32:08 AM PST by
Original
Yeah I just noticed, you're asking about Bruce Gillespie. This knife is made by an apprentice of Tom Gellespie. Different spelling.

I know for a fact you know way more about knives then I ever well :-)

And you'd be surprised how much I don't know. Well, maybe not. I just know what my sellers know. I have one seller I deal with that's taught me so much. He's the one I get the Whitetail and Gellespie knives from. He's been selling for over 2 decades. He gets them from estate sales. Oh, and he gives me credit!!! Heck of a Guy, he is!

Why didn't they want digital? I guess they like fighting the Xmas crowds. Not me brother! I'll take mail order any day in December.

Me too. I raised the starting bid because it looks as though it'll only get one bid, if any. And this is well worth the starting bid. I think my last 2 listings are going to be it for awhile on here. I have to pay more attention to my listings on the "other" auction site now. It's getting busy and it's starting to get confusing.

It had just a few hours to go and still no bids on them. I'm always hesitant about listing any of my Whtetail because, being Unbranded, it's hard for people to believe that it's U.S. Made. I know it is, and I'm not going to just give it away. That auction went almost a full 10 days without even one bid, so I pulled it. I even put a comment on the page that I would. Still no bids, so I'll keep them, no problem with that. That's what happened to them.
