Believe it or not, he's named after the founder of the toy collector magazine "Lee's Toy Review". Unfortunately, the magazine is no longer being published.
Same here--I was a late-comer to the magazine, but I do know I bought issues that had the visual guide to the G1 Transformers and G.I. Joe. When I started getting into Joe around 2005-06, I ordered one of their promotions (which were ways of getting rid of 80s-90s back stock): the 1993 GI Joe mail-away International Action Force 4-pack. Took a while to get to me, but it was worth it. (Although I never got the Steel Brigade figure that was also offered with the set.)
yes I got the steel b. I think mine was either missing a backpack or a gun I dont remember honestly. great figure ! too bad I don't have the gold version ;)
Charbroiled Chad is what code I had given to my steel brigadier when I ordered it originally in the 80s . Wish I had that figure and file still . It was one of the greatest gijoe experiences I ever had in my life :) and I have had many over the years
