See I use bubble envelope, bubble on it that is $1 there then I do first class$1.25 and tracking is .75c I am not making money, and I like to make sure it arrives, but I guess I should put $3 instead of 3,50c which I am doing now, I don't like the cheap shipping

I agree about the shipping, but three stamps is "legal" shipping for a package under about 10 ounces ($1.26 I think is the minimum for a small package). I don't buy tracking, it's just too expensive (but I offer free shipping on everything).

Also, I use non-bubble small manilla envelopes, much cheaper than bubble envelopes and you can buy them in bulk at office supply stores. The paper is sturdier than a regular envelope, and I put a lot of packing tape to ensure it doesn't get caught in the mail machines. So, I think you could reduce your costs a lot if you used cheaper envelopes that would work just as well.

You'd get a LOT more bids with free shipping, so it's something to think about. You clearly are putting a LOT of effort into your Listia auctions, it gets tiresome if you don't get some decent credits in return!

I don't think you should stop posting, and I don't think there's anything wrong with asking for shipping for larger or more valuable items that should be tracked, but unless your item is fairly valuable, you won't get many bids on little things, without free shipping. It can just be very frustrating to put in all that work and get only a few credits. So, if you plan to sell LOTS of things, try to get your postage costs down so you can offer free shipping. You also might want to offer larger lots of things, instead of individual items, to get more bids. You have to put some time and a little bit of $$$ investment into anything like this, so try to work smart as well as hard!

Keep in mind that free shipping comes back to you when you win items, too. At first I was really upset that Listia won't work without free shipping ... I am giving away things that are NOT trash, and to pay to ship them seemed insane. But, I am earning a lot of credits and using them to win things that are worth far more than the shipping I've paid for. So, try to keep it in perspective.

For example, if I win your necklace for 55 credits, and put it back on Listia with better photos and free shipping, I'd probably get at least 400 credits for it. I plan to use the chain, which is why I'm budding, but I'd probably put the heart pendant back on Listia. That's another good strategy, buy multiple-item lots on Listia, keep what you want and auction the rest again. I have several lots of FOUR costume jewelry rings on Listia right now ... in the descriptions I suggest people bid on them for potential "resale." I don't want to mess with them individually, the danged postage is too expensive! LOL ... *sigh*
