The 3-cent stamp commemorating the opening of the Brussels Universal and International Exhibition was issued through the Detroit, Michigan, post office on April 17, 1958.

Designed by Bradbury Thompson, the central subject of the stamp is an aerial view of the United States Pavilion in Brussels. In the upper left portion of the stamp is the wording "United States Pavilion" arranged in two lines, and in the lower right is "US Postage 3c," all in whiteface Gothic. The wording "Brussels Universal and International Exhibition 1958" appears at the left of the stamp, reading upwards and across the top, in dark face Gothic.

The stamp was printed by the rotary process, electric-eye perforated, and issued in sheets of fifty stamps each. An initial printing of 120 million stamps was authorized.
