I rightfully cant answer that i have never grown anything in the desert, but if you are able to grow a garden where you are located you should be fine

I am starting an above ground garden. The soil in Az sucks. I cant grow a native cactus my yard. My soil kills everything. So by doing an above ground garden I should be able to grow the peppers. and get the soil they need.

you should be fine I have actually grown these in flower pots, by growing them in a flower pot the plant did not get as big as in the garden but they still produced peppers
