Cucumis melo dudaim
A VINE WITH A ROYAL HISTORY! 15 SEEDS!!
This tiny 2-3" easy to grow melon was the must have vine in every ladies Garden! Though edible, the bland honeydew melon taste was not this vines claim to fame...it was its smell!
"Divine" is the word most often used when describing the heavy scent produced by the brilliantly orange stripped ornamental. And it was this heavenly fragrance which had Victorian females clamoring for the fruit as both a perfume and precursor to deodorant. When placing a few in a bowl this heirloom vine from the Victorian era will scent an entire room.
Queen Anne, noted for her beauty and dreamy scent, caused the palm sized melons to be held in high repute by always carrying one in her pocket. Following Anne and with the introduction of sweeter fruits, the miniature melon became all but extinct. In the 1870's a mistaken hand full of the seeds were found and revived...and these are those historical seeds.
