You can place the watermelon in the box or container of choice when the watermelon reaches the size of a softball. Be sure not to move the watermelon. Don't use a container with holes in it as like a milk crate... it just doesn't work.

I've tried the watermelon in the box and it's fun but, it also reminds you how long watermelon can take to mature. You can purchase a square box from many online retailers or local nurseries. You have to actually ask for them or ask that they keep some in stock. I make my own out of plexiglass. It's best to use a see through box so that you can see it's progress and the plant gets enough light at the stem. Here's a link to show how to build you own under $8.00. I've purchased plexiglass from my local hardware store with bits and such already on hand and it was bout $5.00 per box. http://www.instructables.com/id/Growing-Square-Watermelons-for-8/

Watermelon-Tequila Cocktails
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup granulated sugar
8 cups diced seedless watermelon (1 pound)
1/4 cup fresh lime juice
3/4 cup lightly packed fresh mint leaves,
plus 8 sprigs for garnish
1 1/4 cups silver tequila
Ice
Coctail can also be blended besides on the rocks

Directions
In a small saucepan, bring the water to a simmer with the sugar and stir over moderate heat until the sugar is dissolved, about 1 minute; let the sugar syrup cool.
In a blender, puree the watermelon until smooth. Set a fine-mesh strainer over a bowl and strain the watermelon juice, pressing gently on the solids to extract as much juice as possible. Discard the pulp.
In a large pitcher, combine the sugar syrup with the lime juice, blueberries and mint leaves. Using a wooden spoon, lightly muddle the blueberries and mint. Add the watermelon juice and tequila. Refrigerate until chilled, about 2 hours.
Pour the cocktail into tall ice-filled glasses. Garnish with the mint sprigs and serve.
