This coin corresponds to the period of the dictatorship of Francisco Franco "El Caudillo" (The leader). The front shows the Imperial Eagle sign of the Franco´s dictatorship in Spain bearing the shield under the caption ""Una, grande y libre ("One, Great and Free".)
On the back, we see a year (1957) and the portrait of the dictator with the funny caption: "Francisco Franco Caudillo de España por la gracia de Dios" ( leader by the Grace of God).
This coin bears witness to a period in the history of Spain known com "La dictadura" (Dictatorship), it was established after the end of the Spanish Civil War (1936 - 1939) and lasted from 1939-1975 year that "The leader died" giving way to a democratic government.
