how far is it used for

Its good for 50-100 yards+ depends on brightness you set the reticle at. If you lower the brightness you can still pick up on smaller targets. I mean if you were shooting a larger silhouette target you could leave brightness as is. But its a pretty solid red dot.

It does work properly it will need zeroing it after it's mounted. But that's any scope when it's been mounted.
