If you are into scrap booking you can make your own embellishments with these molds. You can also use these molds to form paper into embellishments. You wet the paper and make a pulp and press it into the mold and let it dry. I hope this answers your question. Good luck to you!

if that is 45 mm that would make that only an inch nearly 2 inches wide?

Yes heidifoley, that is correct. The entire mold is an approx. 1-3/4 inches round. The metric system is used in jewelry making and other craft items because it is a more precise measurement. The mold is only 1-3/4" - approx. (45mm - exact) and the 3 usable cavities in this mold are 3/8" - approx. (10mm - exact). These molds are used as described in the listing above. I hope this answers your question as to the size and gives you some in-site on why the metric system is used in crafting.
