No it hasnt . Im not even sure where you would have that done .I bought a storage unit a couple years ago it had a lot of antique and vintage items in it most dating in the early to mid 20's these were in it also . Either way they are vintage not reproductions and 399 credits seems totally fair . Your the only watcher at this point.
You can test Bakelite in two ways, one is to heat it up with your fingers it will give off a very distinct chemical smell. Another is to use simichrome polish, it will give off a yellow residue since Bakelite oxidizes and yellows over time :)
This is not Bakelite. It is celluloid. Bakelite is much heavier and does not have the striations in it that is seen in celluloid. If you want to test it, do it on the bottom of the hair receiver (the piece you call a powder case). Use a very hot very small sized pin and stick it into the bottom very lightly & quickly! It will smell like burnt feathers!! Bakelite & plastic just melt up around the pin & smell like petrol!
