So I received this Ps3 from a relative, said it stopped working for her not sure why, never bothered to go get it checked, so I plugged it in and nothing comes on the tv screen, the red light is on when its off, the blue and green light comes on when you turn it on but nothing shows up on the screen....last time I checked it I think it made the PlayStation sound when you first turn it on but not positive..., so as seen in the picture I took the warranty sticker off, to see what could be the problem, found nothing.... SO NOW I'M POSTING IT ON LISTIA TO SO SEE IF ANYBODY ELSE WOULD WANNA SEE IF THEY COULD FIX IT AND/OR KNOW HOW TO FIX IT AND WOULD LIKE A PS3... It's the one of the original first fat ps3's, comes with nothing, just the system, ( I've kept the controller for myself and gave all the cords to a friend of mine, YOU ARE JUST BIDDING ON THE BROKE SYSTEM!!! NO REFUNDS, BIDDERS BEWARE.... Any questions feel free to ask

I repair consoles locally sience the release of the fat 40/60/80 gb consoles trust me when i say its the sata port ot the hdd take the hdd out you will have display of the console and will tel you unable to run the console due to the storage device not being there or along simaller lines depending on ur firm ware. If same outcome with no harddrive then the gpu as screwed and needa be reflowed. No way id pay 100$ aka 100k credits tho only cause i get consoels weith this issue for 20-30$ max on criagslist and fix them up xD

take it apart. on the motherboard (in metal casing) there are two pressure plates that screw down. one is for GPU the other CPU. these chips overtime start to come away from the board on the old fat ones. take plates off, place a dime on top of both CPU and GPU. screw pressure plates back on. This will make sure your chips are connecting. just had a buddy give me his old fat ps3 cause it did the exact same thing and he bought a new one. Did this and it now works and is in my bedroom and I use it for Netflix and amazon video.

if jus a harddrive issue then u will get more credits cause u can swap with any 2.5 sata hdd :P just a heads up :P so u might wana check it real fast while bids are low to get em to rise if not then simple gfx issue then can repair easily to by reflowing gpu can help winner with if they like to.

if you were that worried of backwards compatible just jailbreak it install Linux Ubuntu and download emulators. Thinking of doing this to mine. Just a heads up for anyone interested though don't bid on instructions on how to jailbreak on Listia. Its free on YouTube or ps3hacks.com!!

TrueHavok that is not the problem with this system. It's going to require some soldering and a bit of elbow grease. The hard reset to the bios option won't fix this one.

This could go quite high if you would reply with a model number. A lot of people would fix this up for a backwards compatible system, but as it stands, it could be a 40 as well as a 20 or 80 vs 60, etc.
