Description

The listing, My Panpaw's Famous Fudge has ended.

This is a secret family recipe, that has been handed down from my Great Grandfather (Panpaw), to my Grandfather (Pawpaw), to my Mother, and now to me.
And for a few of those Listia credits I will share it with you.

My Panpaw was a Mess Specialist (cook) in the Navy during WWII. He was an AMAZING cook!

He told me he came up with this recipe on the ship, because him and his buddy had a sweet tooth. Since there are anywhere from 2,000 to 5,000 sailors at any given time. Everything came in bulk, there was no way to make a little of anything. So he made it for everyone, and they loved it. He continued to make it when he returned home from the war.

I remember every year until I was 11, that fudge was his Christmas present to everyone. I could care less about the presents I just wanted my Panpaws famous fudge.

Everyone always asked why he only made it at Christmas and if they could have the recipe. His answers was always I will take it to my grave.

When he passed we thought we had lost him and his fudge forever. But locked away in his safe there it was, the so sought after recipe. and we found out why he only made it at Christmas It made almost 150 lbs of fudge (that is not a typo yes 150 lbs)

My Pawpaw also was great cook, he converted it down, and the smallest batch that could be made and still was "Panpaws fudge" still it makes 5 1/2 lbs.

So to keep with tradition I only make the fudge during Christmas. It is also my little way to remember my Panpaw, and the short 11 years I had with him. So this year when pulling out the recipe, I thought I would share the recipe with my fellow Listians.

Since I can not share the amount of fudge as he he did every year. By sharing it with you, and you making it and sharing it with your family and friends, you help me carry on his tradition

Thank you for taking the time to view my auction

Merry Christmas!
