I don't have enough points to bid on these, but I love them. I have several of these already, but I keep them on a shelf because don't understand what they're for. Could you explain?
as it was explained to me they were gifts inside boxes of red rose tea, and were commonly used as matchstrikers. I don't know if that's fact, but if you feel the bottom of yours you'll notice they're rough or ribbed , which would seem like a good surface for striking matches. Now that you've asked I'm curious to do a little more research myself. If you cannot bid on these keep watching!! I collected them as a girl & am selling all the ones I have doubles of so there will be more to come...
Looked up some info, apparently "wade figurines"' were collectible gifts that Red Rose Tea started giving out in the 1950's, they were named such, because they were made by Wade Pottery.
