pardon my uneducatedness of clay canes.. but what do you do with these once a person gets them? are they soft enough to cut to make beads??

You can use these for just about anything! Scrapbooking, deco, nail art, etc... I'm not going to say flat out that you can use these as beads, only because I've never used them that way. They are soft enough to slice and possibly be able to... I hope this helps! :)

Yes nail glue or clear polish, apply polish, add cane, then when dry add another cost or two on top...hope this helps! :)
