It is neat isn't it! I'm just growing them for the first time myself, I'm starting them indoors only because it's been to cold here I had some extras that's when I decided to share them on here, your best bet it to look it up on the internet for your zone area soyou will have the best possible plant,

I was watching a educational video from the on Asian vegetables and the instructor mentioned luffa. When eaten young, he said, it has a better flavor than summer squashs. That piqued my interest, so I went on the hunt for recipes. There were a few that were easy for me to find, Here's a really simple one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7L-W7YB-P4 If I understood the languages used to describe this vegetable, then I could probably find many many more.

Oh! And I also noticed that ppl are making their own soaps and putting the sponges into the soap before it sets up. Thought that was just a fantastic idea.

I think I missed the edible seed part too. Like squash or pumpkin, they probable are. Wonder if they are palatable though.

Are they on a fence or tellis! They look like long skinny gourds. In fascinated with the idea of growing my own...unlike charityandmatt...I knew they didn't just come from Walmart.. Lol!... but I thought they grew in the ocean,,, like a sea sponge... See all the people you've educated!!! :)
