Born 1897 died 1957 Charles Wayland BROOKS was the unsuccessful Republican candidate for Governor of ILLINOIS in 1936, he was then elected United States Senator in 1940 to fill a seat vacated by Senator Lewis and was reelected in 1942, serving until 1949. (He was not re-elected in 1948.)This is a 7/8" lithographed pinback button, pin badge that promoted the election of BROOKS on a state map of ILLINOIS.
A nice political campaign pin, however, it has some alligatoring of the lithographed paint. The reverse gold is very clean as made by GERAGHTY of Chicago, IL.
