The listing, 30 + Heirloom Armenian Cucumber seeds has ended.
30 + Heirloom Armenian Cucumber seeds, also called snake cucumber or yard-long cucumber (Cucubita melo).
This rare slicing cucumber is regarded as one of the best. They are crisp, thin-skinned, mild-flavored, and have soft seeds. Armenian Cucumbers are burpless and easy to digest, and they don't need to be peeled or seeded.
It's not the best for pickling, but great for salads. I like to slice Armenian cucumbers and serve them with olive oil, tomatoes, cheese and fresh basil, but they are also great on their own.
They say it's actually a type of melon, but it sure has a wonderful cucumber taste. The skin is very thin, light green, and bumpless. It has no bitterness and the fruit is almost always used without peeling. It is often bent and twisted. The flavor is mild and slightly sweet. Once you try one, you'll be hooked!
The Armenian cucumber grows approximately 30 to 36 inches long, but the fruit is most flavorful when it is 12-15 inches long. It grows equally well on the ground or on a trellis. Armenian cucumber plants prefer to grow in full sun for most of the day (6 + hours) and in well drained soil. They like to sprawl their vines all over the place, even if you’re trying to trellis them, so give them plenty of room, and if the plant is happy, it will reward you with enough cukes to feed the neighborhood.
