I have a little patch i'd like to grow them in. Would the do well or will they spread? Would they do well in florida?

They do very well in Florida. I saw them in Orlando last time I was there. It will grow into a small shrub if you allow it to. It should reseed for you there too.

what do you do with these after they've finished blooming and turn brown at the end of the growing season?

i do not cut them back until the next season. This gives them the best chance of coming back in colder climate zones.

great, thanks! They do spread, too! I noticed this last year. There were little sprouts out a couple feet from the main bush. They're pretty easy to take out if you don't want them there.
