I'm a pro photographer (30 yrs) - I'll add a little insight into the camera:

The Canon AE-1 is a FILM SLR (not digital).

If in good condition, it is an excellent camera (I've owned 2 - many years ago)
In its time, it was a camera used by many professionals, and boasts a solid, professional quality build (not quite as tough as the Nikons of that era, but still very good).
The lens pictured is the 50mm f/3.5 macro - I good lens that acts both as a 50mm (standard) lens, and also extends to allow for marcro (extreme closeup) photography - a great added feature.

If you are interested in shooting with film, have basic knowledge of how to use a manual camera, this is a really good performer, assuming that the camera works, an there is no fungus in the lens.

I do not know the seller, and cannot evaluate the quality of THIS camera being traded by the photos - I'm offering this info just so folks know more about this model of camera, not as an endorsement to this auction.

bdietz, a couple things you could help folks with:

1) Post a photo of the TOP of the camera (if it has a "P" or "Program" on the dial, then it is a AE-1P, and is a slightly more advanced camera (has a program/auto mode).

2) Take the lens off the camera look through it, and let us know if there are any spots or anything on the glass (inside the lens) - this will let us know if there is (or is not) fungus on the lens- Note that fungus in the lens will NOT hurt the camera, just the lens.

3) Get verified (connect your Ccard, phone verification, Facebook / Twitter) this gives us all more confidence in bidding on the item - there are far to many false auctions on listia, and people are wary...

Hope this info is helpful - Good luck!

If your not sure what lens you have on it (like 70mm-300mm or 50mm), then it would be helpful to take a picture of the information on the lens so people can see what they are bidding on, thank you.

Can you give some more details about the camera besides stuff you copied off google? What kind of lens does it have on it? Does it work? Have you run any film through it? Any scratches to the lens? Does the lens work properly? If you don't know, that's okay - just let us know by saying something like "I don't know how it works or how to test it, but it looks okay to me" "Great condition" - means that it is in perfect working order with no issues whatsoever.
