Questions & Comments
This brings back so many memories. I bought the boy Cabbage Patch for my son because he saw him in the toy store and wanted a friend. My mom thought it unwise to get him a doll but i told her to just not worry. He is grown now and almost 40 but he won't let me get rid of that doll. I have it wrapped in tissue and sealed in plastic. Fanned and great auction good luck
What a beautiful story:) You've got me thinking they are one of the first companies to make a boy doll like this???? I mean I know they made Ken but that was pretty much for girls too and GI Joe but those are not cuddly like a real baby. Well I am sure your son grew up just fine despite the doll LOL I say give them all dolls and ditch the toy guns!!
I was one of those kids.. LOL about 3 in 1984 My grandma made me one because we couldn't afford the real deal. I still have that doll:) This is the first real one I have ever had and she is porcelain at least her face and arms the rest is soft. I have limited space so I can not display her properly and I am trying to spare my man from to much girly stuff!! HEHE
Awww I am sure that the handmade doll your grandmother made is worth much more to you than the real deal! Already a fan and watching though I doubt I can bid! lol
You know it she is the only doll I have left from my childhood I moved at least 20 times before I was 18 LOL She is a mess of a thing dingy face body stained with drool spots from using her as a pillow:) So funny!! I am your fan too.
Hi everybody:) I hear people talking about paying it forward on this site all the time well I have a favor to ask you. There is a new seller named bjjtlh it is funny because I was her first auction winner and when she sent her address to send shipping payment I noticed it was in the same town I used to live in when I lived in Michigan I am in Seattle now so I found that ironic. So please help her auctions are not getting near the amount of attention that they deserve and I certainly do not want to see a great person like her get discouraged from using this site so please check out her great auction for her SARA COVENTRY BRACELET FROM THE 80'S link http://www.listia.com/auction/14282325-sara-coventry-bracele t-from-the-80-s

Sorry no my Grandma's have all passed away. I am from Michigan originally I moved here about 5 years ago:) Thanks for stopping by and I am certainly a fan now!!
To Okika, They got the names off tombstones in a Georgia town near the city where the Cabbage Patch dolls originated and were manufactured. I got this information from a lady who worked in the plant where they were made. Thanks!
Wow, she's awesome! I was given my first one when I was 17 only because my cousin worked for the company! I still have her, 33 years later, her name is Una Nilla! The one you are listing has the same name as my daughter, ironic! Fanned and watching!
I have one from a little earlier. She was soft all over, including her face and arms. Her name is Eunice Tony! Lol! Where did they get some of these names? Lol! Anyway, I'm not sure when they started making the porcelain face and arms? And then I think they went to plastic( or rubber?) face and arms like they are today. Much cheaper but not nearly as nice. Mine still sits in a little white rocking chair at my moms house. I couldn't bear to part with her so I keep her there. My sister and I both got one, they tried to pick out ones that looked like each of us! Wow this brings back memories! Lol! Great auction. I'll be watching! :)
Thanks so much for sharing your story the names are definitely like that of our ancestors. I am pretty sure this is a special edition they made the same doll the regular way they just gave this one special attention the hair is so long:) I will check for the link that gives more info and update the auction if I can find it again.
