BENEVOLENT AND PROTECTIVE ORDER OF ELKS (BPOE) ANTIQUE EARRING / CHARM. AUCTION IS FOR ONLY ONE CLIP-ON EARRING, BUT THIS EARRING WOULD BE EASILY CONVERTED TO A CHARM OR PENDANT.

BPOE is the benevolent and protective order of elks, also often known as the elks lodge or simply the elks, is an american fraternal order and social club founded in 1868. it is one of the leading fraternal orders in the u.s., currently claiming nearly one million members.

this earring is small, ~1/2" x 1/2", with a gold elk bust circled in sparkling prong-set rhinestones. the elk bears a shield above its head and a banner below with the letters BPOE. some of the stones have a distinctive black diamond appearance. not sure if there aged that way or if it was intentional. although i can find no quality stamp or maker's marks on the earring, it is well-made, detailed, and retains a rich quality gold appearance on its front and back. this charm is simply captivating!
