Description

The listing, Native American Dead Pawn Turquoise and silver Necklace has ended.

This is a "DEAD PAWN" Piece of Native American Art at it's finest ! It measures28" total length and is strung on some type of thick waxed cord, it is very old so I know it's NOT "Sinew". the Turquoise is a deep sky blue with black Matrix, they are nuggets, not small tho but comfy to wear. The silver beads are handmade, NOT Bench made, as well as the tiny silver beads are as well, the Bi-cones look to Me to be made of brass or copper, I'm not positive but I know the 8 Bi-cone Bead's do NOT look like silver to me.
************************************************
This would retail for around $450 because of it's age and the way it's made, You can't find dead pawn that is in excellent shape..

Sorry, everyone, but I have to comment. I saw nothing hateful or rude or even impolite in the questions/comments/statements posted by caliwildviolet or purplesmurple. So...Susan54961, if you feel like blocking me also, my name on listia is robin31. I will return the favor. It seems that you jumped a bit to a conclusion that was not only incorrect but also unfair. Read the comments again for further clarification. The necklace is nice. Doubt that it is very old because of the clasp. I have been in the business for over 40 years and I too am of Cherokee descent. So...you might want to reconsider your comments. Or at least apologize. My opinion only and I don't believe I have made a rude comment yet on listia.

Not to bust any bodies bubble..but I doubt very much that this is "Old Dead Pond" jewelry...I live in the Southwest and the natives who made the "Old Pond" most always used Sterling Silver..and those are not handmade silver beads either. It is very easy to get fooled into thinking you are buying "Old Pond"..so be very careful!!!

First off, it is "NOT" called "POND" it's called "Pawn". Yes They most certainly did use different types of Bead's, secondly, Please don't try to say I said they are STERLING. Do You see anywhere I said that? Lastly, The Listing in NOWAY state's that You have to bid, and by all Means, Please do NOT. I try to FOOL, "NOBODY"... So now that We got You cleared up, NEXT????? Blessings.....

This is a beautiful piece! May I ask how do you know it is dead pawn? Did it come with an old pawn ticket? I just like to know a little of the history of items I'm interested in, not trying to be rude and you do have some nice things :)

The term, "Dead Pawn", means it has been Pawned for cash and then The Person who Pawned it went back and got it out of Pawn. Yes My Hubby is Native American, Of course I do "NOT" have a Pawn ticket as The Person who Pawned the item had to TURN-IN the Ticket to get Their item back, I Really think that if You or Anybody else don't understand the "Term" I'm sorry, If You go today and Pawn an item and You go back to get the item, You MUST Give the Pawn Shop the Ticket. I know it's Dead Pawn because it is strung on OLD Weird Cord, NOT "Sinew", the beads are not around these day's. The "8" and Clasp, I haven't seen in Years. So again I hope this answers Your question. But if You have "ANY Type of Doubt's", PLEASE DO NOT BID. Thanks much for looking and many Blessings.....

Well now, there's a GREAT comment for sure, but I knew this Lady would come around as She know's Her Jewelry {whispers} -{and a lot of other things too}- Honestly I've not tried to make any problems for Anybody, all I've tried to do was list an awesome piece of DEAD PAWN Turquoise, Native American Jewelry~ Bless You Jennifer for taking the time to look Hun.....

It is not that someone does not understand the term, however it is rude to put down anyone who asks a genuine question. Not everyone is acquanted with 'Native American' history and Caravan is a good friend who was simply asking a question. None of us are here to put you down, but because we have a genuine interest. I have a collection of turquoise and always tend to gravitate towards this type of auction. It is a lovely piece, with a few people who actually know turquoise and old pawn and just want a bit more information. Thanks..

No No~ I was not trying to be "RUDE" in any fashion, but the term Dead Pawn means just as I described. As far as a Ticket, again when the Person who Pawned the item must Give the TICKET to the Pawn Shop to get the ITEM Back.... I Sure did NOT Try to put Your Friend down in any Fashion by any means, I would NEVER do that to ANYBODY, EVER! I was just trying My best to explain about the term "Dead Pawn". I know Caravan had a GENUINE Question and that's why I took the time to try to answer Her Question, I did not put Her down. If She felt that way I will message Her to explain and tell Her I'm HONESTLY Sorry! I've sold Native American Jewelry for years on Ebay, "Turquoisetemptations" was My User name.. So I do in fact know what I'm speaking about. I am SORRY if I have offended Anybody and I sure have NOT tried to do such. Blessings.....

I guess I should have stated that my husband is of Yaqui descent as in the Pasqua Yaquis of Arizona. My father-in-law chose to pass away on Easter which is the holiest day of the year for the Yaquis. Very cool if you ask me! Actaully the dead pawn I was speaking of is mostly because I have had to pawn things an buy them back just to get by in this economy. I have a dry sense of humor...sorry!

Hun. That is EXACTLY what the term, "DEAD PAWN" is, We Natives as well al All Others at one time or more, had to PAWN an item of worth just to make ends meet so to speak and that's where the term, "DEAD PAWN" comes from. Bless You and I think Your sense of humor is awesome~

Dead pawn is a new term to me too and my husband is native american as well. Q: if the person had ot return the ticket to get the item out of pawn (duh of course), then how do you know it was even in a pawn shop? Couldn't it just be an old native american piece? I apparently own tons of dead pawn stuff myself and did not even know it! lol

Lisa~ Thank You Hun for Making My morning {SUNNY}, and {Bright}, I dislike any type of arguement and @ a point I was wishing I could take the listing down as I had some Folks think I was being mean or rude and that's just "NOT" Me by any means, I know My Native American Jewelry as I said Hubby is Navajo and We sold Native American Jewelry for YEARS in Ebay and to Personal Customer's as to what They were looking for. I try to "FOOL" Nobody, "EVER", I am as Honest as the day is long. All I was trying to do was {SHARE} an Excellent piece of Native American Jewelry and back in the OLD Day's some, and I mean some older Native Women used different types of Bead's that They had, to Make a Necklace or whatever type of Jewelry They liked for Themselves, and again the type of Bi-Cone Bead's are maybe a brass or copper and the rest are handmade beads, I have no clue if they are sterling but I do know the Turquoise is "Kingman" and it real. The cord is just "Weird" that it's strung on... very different, never seen this type in all My years of selling. I left this Piece as I found it, I'll NOT change a thing about it. Thanks so much for looking and Many Blessings to You.....

My man is of cherokee descent. His great-great grandfather was a 4 yr old cherokee indian who survived the trail of tears march. It has been well documented.I lived in the southwest for half of my middle age life & know a good piece of turquoise when i see one. This item is supreme & I wish you the best of luck. As a first generation american (europe) my family was horrified at the atrocities of the NA people. It was right up there with what hitler did which is why they left & i am strong german descent

To Desertflower62 you did not ask one question. You harrassed a respected seller. You have been blocked from my auctioins for that. shame on you!

To Caliwildviolet, I am fluent in english, spanish & german for 55 yrs.. I am blocking you too for your support of a hateful soul. There will NEVER be peace in this world until there are peace in our hearts

Rose19, I am looking forward to more of your fabulous auctions if you haven't blocked me. I just could not help myself today You don't owe these people nothing but was so gracious anyway. Wish I could be more like you. many blessings

Purplesmurple~ I'm so VERY SORRY if I offended You in any way Hun. I did NOT mean to do that by any means, I was just trying to explain the term "Dead Pawn". My Guess is I "ASSUMED" that the word "Pawn", Everyone would understand that once Pawned the Ticket or Stubb would be returned to the Pawn Shop when any item that may have been Pawned was gotten back. I Really did "NOT" mean You, it was just meant for the listing itself. Again I Honestly am sorry. I did send You a message of that nature as well....Blessings All.....
