Just curious about something... We have DVR cable boxes (from Time Warner), but they only hold 40gb of movies/shows, so we keep having to delete things we really like, so there's room to add more things we really like. OK, my Q is this: Can this unit be used as an external storage for the DVR cable box?? Or do we need to get a special storage unit to store our faves after saving them?

Thanks much for any help you might be able ton provide. I'm also fanning you, cuz I don't have very many techno sellers fanned yet (& because yer nice & I like that in a seller!!!)... ;~}

You can store anything here on this external drive, movies, pictures, files, etc, It supports any type of files in it.
Now, you have to realize that some of the movies are "CODED" and those can not recorded or saved no where.
A good way to find out if you can record the movie from your DVR is try to do it to a regular DVD, if it can be done, you can store the movie on this unit as well.
