Description

The listing, Giant White Bird of Paradise has ended.

This is a gorgeous plant that get VERY large! Also known as The Travelers palm. The flowers are over a foot long and a beautiful blue and white in color. These can be started indoors and then moved outside once they have outgrown their containers. They need a sandy well-drained soil and should not be planted too close to the house or you will be pruning constantly. They are a tropical plant and wont grown in colder climates. Bidder will receive 10 seeds from my backyard plant. Thanks for bidding!

They grow real slow from seed. And take about five years to become blooming maturity. The interior landscape company I work for in Washington DC has one at the Howard Hughes medical center that is huge and bloomed after being there for over 8 years but if you grow it outside it will bloom sooner.

I don't know exact zones, but they can't take snow at all. They like heat and humidity. Like I said you can have it as a house plant in front of a nice window, however eventually they get very large. Check out the second pic. They like full sun too.

You're right. They can take some minor frost but that's about it.

They soul do fine in Mississippi... You have the same warm humid weather that we do here in south Florida. I insult don't know how fast they grow from seed because my plant was well established when I moved into this house. The seeds are very hard so best to score them and soak before planting.

They are a tropical plant so no snow zones. They can take some minor frost but they really prefer the warm humid weather.
