The listing, SUSAN BATES Crystalites SMALL FRENCH KNITTER & Instructions Booklet has ended.
Up for bid is a Susan Bates Crystalites Small French Knitter. Has four pegs and works with regular yarns.
These things have been around forever! My mom had an old wooden one with nails for the pegs, when I was a child.
This spool is a pretty see-through green, and very sturdy. The shaft is easy to turn and the nail heads are rounded so the yarn will slip easily over the head.
It is used to make i-cords, or those long thin knitted tubes that can be sewn into potholders and all kinds of things. The instruction booklet has instructions for a necklace, bracelet, key ring, dog collar & leash (it is shown on a stuffed animal), and a water bottle holder.
The instructions say you need a 2-inch yarn needle (not included, but easily obtained) for these projects.
I picked this up at a church sale, because it looks like it was never used, and I thought someone would love to have this to use or help their child use (kids love these!).
The instructions were a little bit difficult for a child to use (in my opinion), but I found really good instructions (with photos) online, and I will include the link to that site with the knitter, in case you would like to use them.
