These beautiful trumpet vines have been growing on my family’s red barns for many many years. They are orange/pink in color and are very hardy. They will grow in sandy soil. The vine needs full sun for vigorous flowering. They are prolific vines and spread fast.

They are great for humming birds and this is the main reason I am auctioning these seeds. Humming birds love to feed on the flowers when in bloom. You can easily train the vine to grow on a wooden trellis. It will form a light green cover. You can trim the vine to the height you like. Flowering will occur when the vine is more mature. The vine will not usually flower the first season you plant the seeds. Patience is required.

Now I will list the potential NEGATIVES about the trumpet vine. The trumpet vine has aerial roots. These roots can attach themselves to just about anything that you let them grow on. They can harm structures of concrete, brick, and wood. Their favorite is old wood. I have seen the vine grow 30 to 40 feet up trees over their lifetime. They tend to use their host tree or structure like ivy does. In the winter time they will lose their light green foliage and you will just see the light brown stems on your trellis.
