Here is a genuine shipwreck coin!

The coin is a copper "X. Cash" coin with the West India Company and 1808 year on the obverse and reverse has the denomination in Persian and English.

The coin is from the wreck of the Admiral Gardner, which sank in a storm in the English Channel on the 25th of January, 1809. The ship was carrying these coins to pay workers in Bengal and Madras, the coins were minted in England at the Birmingham Mint. The shipwreck was found and salvaged in 1984.

In this lot, the coin is in a sealed display case from 1993 by UPM. The case is a bit scratched but still makes for a nice present.

The coin measures 25 millimeters in diameter.
