Amaranth Seeds (30)

The Amaranth plant (shown in the first photo) is less than three months old. Some of these seeds, as you can see from the other photos are Intense Purple and Love Lies Bleeding but not absolutely sure. There are many varieties of this annual.

They are quite nice, get quite tall and will reseed themselves. You can also collect many seeds from one plant. Some of the seeds are black and some orangish.

Amaranth is also called Fire Flower and they are absolutely gorgeous .. I repot the purple amaranth with the green ones to show the stark contrast between them. They are considered a whole grain, edible and said to be more nutritious than spinach and kale. I've enjoyed partaking of the baby amaranth leaves as part of my salad. Our rabbits have a ball on them as well!
