Description

The listing, Vietnam POW bracelet has ended.

I found this in a batch of jewelry. I know I wore one for years when I was a kid in the 70s. I was for a friend of the familys relitive, but I do not know who this is. I thought a collector might like it

Well I did just try to get a hold of Mascoutah, IL 411 information and only came up with one listing for a Terry listing there and got a # but no one answered. So if no one minds I would like to bid to get the bracelet. This really means a lot to me. I don't know what to say to the people when I get them on the phone because I'm not good at talking to people in person or on the phone. So I'm kind of nervous about asking something like this. So if you all could help me out here could you please. Thanks.

Here is a post I found on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund. It reads as follows: "Posted for: ORAL RAY TERRY:
When I met your sister, Naomia, she told me about you and what a wonderful brother you were to her. I felt as though I knew you through her and your family. You were constantly in the prayers of all who knew you and your family. You still are. Naomia is a wonderful lady, a wonderful Mother and wife, and especially a wonderful friend. You would be very proud of her and her family. You will always be in the hearts of those who loved you and those of us who only knew you through them. Your memory will never fade from their hearts. Your brave sacrifices will never be forgotten by those of us who carried your name in our hearts and wore your name with humility and thankfulness for your devotion and courage. God Bless You & God Bless the USA May 03, 2002

Yeah I thought it was sad too. Especially when no one even checked to see what happened to him until later.

I just left a message with a friend to call me back they are from Mascoutah and he was military and is active with a lot of the different groups around here. I am going to have him ask around so gravedigger13 if you still want to get it and hold on to it, I will keep helping look for the family. I live real close to there. I will bid but don't want to out bid you if we want the same end result.

white pages list some Terry's on there did anybody try and call them? That town isn't that big. Did anybody try Scott Air Force base because they are right next door to Mascoutah and they might want to help locate the family!

This was part of it. I couldn't submit it all because it was too long. It just told of how many others were missing in actions as of a certain date.

of the following: raw data from U.S. Government agency sources,
correspondence with POW/MIA families, published sources, interviews.
Updated by the P.O.W. NETWORK 1998.

REMARKS:

SYNOPSIS: PFC Oral R. Terry was a radio operator/seaman aboard a maintenance
boat. On May 3, 1968, the craft was on a damage control mission on the Ham
Luong River in South Vietnam. On the mission, Terry's job was radio guard.

About 4:45 a.m. a splash was heard by two members on the boat. They did not
investigate. PFC Terry was to have awakened his relief at 5:00 a.m., but his
relief awakened himself at 0700 hours. He did not question why Terry had
failed to awaken him.

Normal activities were carried on the remainder of the day until
mid-afternoon, when the crew noticed that Terry was not present. A search of
the area was conducted without success. Terry was a non-swimmer, and was
last seen wearing a flak jacket and a steel helmet. Because there was no
proof that Terry died, he was classified Missing in Action.
