Description

The listing, Authentic Navajo Nellie Begay Jojoba Necklace 70s has ended.

This necklace was one of a large batch purchased in 1975 for a jewelry business venture. It was created by the artisan Nellie Begay, a Navajo living in Window Rock, Arizona who was a friend of my late mother. One of the last half-dozen or so that I have left; it boasts coffee colored beads with genuine jojoba accents. A few sand/golden spacer beads accent the piece, which is approximately 26" in circumference if you don't include the sunburst pendant. The sunburst itself is approximately 3.75" in diameter.

The necklace was in storage from 1976 till I discovered it with the others among my mother's things in 2011, when she died at 91 (technically, still 90, but she was so looking forward to her coming birthday that she insisted she was 91. I went along. :)

I kept Nellie's creations in the box since then and have not worn it, so it looks as it did when first made.

Shipping is free through first class mail, wrapped in bubble wrap and sent in a tyvek mailing bag, to any part of the U.S. I use tracking and ship very quickly, so you'll always know when to expect your package. Listia rules apply for verified address. Thank you for viewing my listing!

Greens have a lot going for them. I just finished a Coursera course with the University of Melbourne on Climate Change. I wish everyone could take that course; it would light a fire under people.

What? Where do I sign up? Climate Change is a hot ticket item here in CA! You can Google my friend Running Wolf(Blackfeet Tribe) and see he has run for Mayor of Berkeley CA which is where I live BTW. He is quite an activist--oh yeah--I even have a pic of him burning Sage over my Hippie Rock (one of my older auctions)

Just google Coursera and you will find it. I don't know when the next session of Climate Change will take place, but you can sign up for classes months in advance. They have at least 3 or 400 courses available free, all from top universities, so I'm sure you'll find some you like.

Cool! I'm also starting a class this coming week called "How to Save the world" (or something like that.) It's a six week course that's wonderful. I'll go check out the exact title and get back to you. Maybe we can be students together in the forums for some classes. :)

You'd love it. I am totally hooked on Coursera. Great courses from universities like Princeton, Harvard, UCLA, etc, and they give you a certificate for passing. And the best part...TOTALLY FREE. No tuition, no books, no materials, nothing. I don't know how they do it, but I am the proud owner of 13 certificates to hang on my wall, on subjects ranging from archaeology, Greek mythology, Climate Change, global finance, history, etc, etc. Love it. :)

Just checked out the Bar Caroller. Cool! The class I mentioned is also going to cover climate change, among other earth problems. I hope you check it out. If you do, you'll probably find me on the forum. :)

The course is actually called, "How to Change the World." It's by Wesleyan University and it starts in a month or two. They have a video preview of the course that sounds very interesting. Click on "coursera.com" then type in the search box "How to Change the World" and you can click on the video from there. Only about 5 minutes, but cool. :)

Hey there Katy--I recently saw a YT vid with Eddie Money being interviewed at a CA casino --he mentioned helping the Indians at Alcatraz Island when they occupied it--sharing! W & B too

The Indian Nation deserves to be a real Indian Nation. I've often believed we should carve out part of our western states and return it to Indian lands, for whatever tribes who wish to immigrate there. It wouldn't be enough, for the harm we did, but at least it would be something extraordinarily good (at least extraordinary for the kinds of people we have now in government.) Of course that would never happen. Too many rich people live in every state, including the sparsely populated west like Montana and Wyoming (Cheney country) JMHO
