Fabulous Art Deco (circa 1930) Signed Sterling with UNCAS Symbol of a U with an Arrow. Men's Size 11
The Intaglio Black Setting portrays what looks to be a warrior. I explored many possibilities from Knights and Mythology to Ancient Medieval Characters as well as Conquistadors, Spartans, Crusaders, Knights of Columbus and on and on. I think this most resembles Alexander the Great or Constantine as depicted on ancient coins.
Just my guess really but there are small Byzantine Crosses and a laurel leaf of Roman -Greco influence flanking the sides of the image. Also a sword or lance beneath the image. All said and done its an Amazing Piece!
The Cameo may be Hematite or Black Glass, I can't determine which. There are a couple of tiny chips to the cameo not seen with the naked eye, only under magnification. Some photos could show specks which are not on the ring.
When I found this ring it was so tarnished I almost didn't buy it but after much cleaning and polishing it is absolutely a Fantastic Find but you may prefer further cleaning.
Im afraid I cannot tell you more about the image. I searched a few hours to try to figure this out.
